Concept of Kia Electric Car

Kia Pop is an all electric concept car that will be presented in Auto Show in these days. The trend for this show is to highlight electric vehicles which are becoming more and more popular. Earlier this year, at the Chicago Auto Show Kia Ray plug-in hybrid sedan made its debut. Kia Pop, however, is much more innovative in its design.

Two LCD screens on the dashboard display speed, battery power, the range to recharge and the efficiency gauge in real time. A high-resolution screen with touch screen control helps in managing the vehicle on road. You can program the charging schedule as per your needs and based on the electricity rate plans.

The engine produces 194 horsepower and 184 pound feet of torque and offers somewhat better acceleration than the smaller 2.4 Liter V4. The fuel economy delivered by the larger engine, however, is somewhat lower and is an estimated 20 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. The 2010 Kia Optima 2.6 Liter V6 engine may not compete with some of the other V6 motors found in other sedans, but it is definitely lower priced as well.

The Volt will prove to be a bit more complex of a car. It'll produce exception mileage until the gas engine kicks in and then good gas mileage thereafter. This car won't leave drivers stranded should they run out of electrical power -- the gas tank can be topped off, extending driving range further. Still, with electric and gas engines combined, the full driving range for the Volt is 379 miles.

Based on the current design being produced in South Korea, the Kia Rio uses a "mild hybrid" model in which the electric motor provides a boost during acceleration and permits regenerative braking, but cannot drive the car on its own. Coming with an 84 hp, 1.4L engine, the Kia Rio is expected to get approximately 42 miles per gallon. The car will come with a 16hp electric motor. The engine and motor can be upgraded to 1.8L and 20hp respectively.

In the real world, their thrust is blunted somewhat by tall transmission gearing, although performance remains adequate. Both engines are relatively loud when revved, but quiet at low and mid-range speeds. Some reviewers complain that the 2.4-liter engine has annoying, non-linear throttle response.
